Next Meeting – Wednesday 19th September, 7pm at NEC Mcleans Island

Welcome to Canterbury Dressage

Canterbury Dressage was established 60 years ago by a group of riders and volunteers who shared the passion of creating a harmonious partnership with their horse.  They achieved this through gaining knowledge, applying correct training and with the support and friendship of like-minded others.  This philosophy remains the same today.

Being a branch of Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ) who are the umbrella body of equestrian sports in New Zealand we adhere to their guiding rules and principles.

We are located at the beautiful grounds of the South Island National Equestrian Centre -McLeans Island where there are top quality facilities including numerous all weather arenas, covered yards, camping facilities along with jumping and hacking areas.

Canterbury Dressage provides monthly competitions for all level of riders from unregistered through to those competing at the highest level.  We specialise in providing regular education and coaching events to promote development opportunities for all levels of riders and horses.

Our Judges are trained and required to pass National and International standard assessments therefore we are able to provide you with quality judging.

A very hard working and dedicated team of volunteers manage all our events and without them we would not be able to provide you with the very successful branch of Canterbury Dressage.

Everyone is Welcome. We look forward to seeing you at our next event.

VOLUNTEER - ˌvɒlənˈtɪə/
"A person who does something, especially helping other people, willingly and without being forced or paid to do it" - and without them, most sports including Canterbury Dressage would not be able to function! When you are making your entries for the next competition please take the time to fill in the volunteer section and add in the role that you can undertake. There are many jobs that can be done on the day and the old saying is many hands make light work! We have a regular group of volunteers who spend many of their hours planning and organising behind the scenes to ensure events can go ahead - many of whom are also riders who pay their entry, ground and admin fees and many who do it for the love of the sport. It is our responsibility to leave the NEC in a clean and tidy condition and this includes the hall and toilets as well as stables and yards. Please make sure you sign up for a role which will help spread the load. Thanks!
